Hebrews 11:3
"By faith we understand that the worlds were prepared by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things which are visible."
Does Hebrews 11:3 teach that we have the power to create with our words?
Word-Faith proponents argue that God created the heavens and earth by speaking them into existence:
> "By faith we understand that the worlds were prepared by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things which are visible" (Hebrews 11:3, NASB)
Since God created humanity in His likeness, they claim we too have the ability to release power through speech.
However, nothing in this passage indicates that humans, like God, possess the effectual power to create physical realities with mere words. While Proverbs and James refer to the profound moral and relational effects of our words, this does not equate to the supernatural, ex nihilo creative power belonging exclusively to the Creator.
