Papyrus Chester Beatty VIII
Papyrus Chester Beatty VIII is an exceptionally early surviving copy of the Book of Jeremiah in Greek, dating to around the late second or early third century AD. It is part of a renowned collection that proved early Christian communities were pioneers in using the codex (modern book) format rather than traditional scrolls. The manuscript also features ancient reverential abbreviations for sacred names, known as nomina sacra.
