Matthew 11

Matthew 11:29

""Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and YOU WILL FIND REST FOR YOUR SOULS."
Did Jesus seek glory for Himself or not?
Contrasting Link: JOH 17:5

In John 8:50, Jesus states, "I am not seeking glory for myself; but there is one who seeks it, and he is the judge." This is sometimes contrasted with John 12:23: "The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified," and Matthew 11:29.

This is not contradictory. The latter glory is not sought by Jesus in a self-aggrandizing manner, but is given to Him by the Father. John 17:5 falls under the same rubric: Jesus is acceding to that which the Father will do in glorifying Him, revealing the mutual glorification and love within the Holy Trinity.

Is Jesus hypocritical about seeking glory?
Contrasting Link: JOH 12:23

"I am not seeking glory for myself; but there is one who seeks it, and he is the judge." This is pitted along with Matt. 11:29, against John 12:23: "The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified." This is said to be "hypocritical", but how is this so? The latter glory is not sought by Jesus, but is given to him. (John 17:5 falls under the same rubric: Jesus is acceeding to that which the Father will do in glorifying him.)
