Matthew 21:38
""But when the vine-growers saw the son, they said among themselves, 'This is the heir; come, let us kill him and seize his inheritance.'"
Did the rulers recognize Jesus for who he was?
Some objectors attempt to contrive a contradiction between Matthew 21:38 and Acts 13:27/1 Cor. 2:8, in saying that the former indicated recognition of Jesus while the latter did not. However, it is not possible to press the analogy too far where parables are concerned. Matthew 21:38 occurs within a parable, not a historical description of the rulers' awareness.
