Psalms 29:5
"For anger is in his wrath, but life in his favor: weeping shall wait for the evening, but joy shall be in the morning."
Does Psalm 30:5 contradict eternal punishment?
> For his anger lasts only a moment, but his favor lasts a lifetime; weeping may stay for the night, but rejoicing comes in the morning. (Psalm 30:5)
It is argued that if hell is real and everlasting, it contradicts the statement that God's anger is but for a moment.
If hell is not anger expressed, but rather the experience of shame and self-imposed alienation from God, it would make no difference to the duration of hell. Furthermore, the use of a poetic proverb is not valid for literalistic doctrinal exegesis in this context.
