The style of many of the Quran’s final sūras is different from most of the Quran to this point. The eight short Arabic lines of Sūra 102 rhyme in couplets.

102.1–2 – Rivalry diverts you, until you visit the graves
The emphasis on jostling for such things as wealth as a key human problem matches the violent “love for (worldly) goods” in 100.8. As with many of these shortest sūras, the outlook for humanity is bleak. “Furnace” in verse 6 translates the Arabic jaḥīm (also 82.14).
