11.71 – We gave her the good news of Isaac

The particular wording of the Arabic original for “we gave her the good news,” bashsharnāhā, helps provide a background for the question of which son is referred to in 37.101. In Sūra 37 the son of sacrifice is not named, but 37.101 says that God gave Abraham the good news (bashsharnāhu) “of a forbearing boy.” See the discussion of this question at 37.107.
