Surah 13:40
"Whether We let you see part of what We promise them, or We take you, only (dependent) on you is the delivery (of the message). (Dependent) on Us is the reckoning."

In this verse addressed to the messenger, Droge translates the Arabic verb tawaffā as “take,” adding “in death” in a footnote. Several Muslim translations give “make die” or similar expressions related to death (Pickthall, Shakir, Mohsin Khan, Sahih International, Muhammad Sarwar). Yet none of these five translates tawaffā in the same way at 3.55, where ‘Īsā is the object of the verb. See the comments at 3.55 and “The Death of Jesus in the Quran”.
