Surah 14

Surah 14:37

"Our Lord, I have settled some of my descendants in a wādī without any cultivation, near your Sacred House, Our Lord, in order that they may observe the prayer. So cause the hearts of some of the people to yearn toward them, and provide them with fruits, so that they may be thankful."

Muslim commentaries have interpreted “your Sacred House” to mean the Ka ‘ ba in Mecca. In 5:97 the Quran calls the Ka ‘ ba the “Sacred House,” though Abraham does not appear in the context. On the “House,” see the comment at 2.124; and on the quranic idea that Abraham travelled deep into the Arabian Peninsula, see analysis at 22.26.
