Surah 16

Surah 16:15

"And He cast on the earth firm mountains, so that it does not sway with you (on it), and rivers and (path)ways, that you may guide yourselves,"
Claimed Miracle: Geology
APOLOGIST CLAIM

"The Quran states that God placed firm mountains on the earth lest it should shake with you, ostensibly predicting their stabilizing role."

Refutation & Exegesis

Mountains are geologically formed by the violent collisions of tectonic plates—the exact same immense forces that generate volatile fault lines and earthquakes. Consequently, mountains and severe seismic shaking are intrinsically linked byproducts of tectonic instability; mountains do not act as stabilizing dead-weights that prevent the earth's crust from moving. The verse portrays a common ancient cosmological assumption that heavy, towering structures anchored the perceived flat earth.
Pseudo-correlation

Since modern geology dictates that mountains are the direct byproduct of tectonic collisions that *cause* shaking, apologists must use pseudo-correlation to claim mountains are stabilizing 'crustal roots', completely hiding the fundamental contradiction.
