Surah 16:2
"He sends down the angels with the spirit of His command on whomever He pleases of His servants: ‘Give warning that (there is) no god but Me, so guard (yourselves) against Me!’"
16.2 – He sends down the angels with the spirit of His command
Allah reveals his word to whomever he chooses. The expression “the spirit of His command” also appears at 40.15 and 42.52, and “the spirit of my Lord’s command” at 17.85. Here this spirit seems to descend with the angels, leaving a question as to what kind of being is envisioned. Further on in the sūra it is the “holy spirit” who “sends down” the recitations of the messenger (v. 102). On “the spirit of [Allah’s] command,” see the comment at 42.52.
