Surah 16:61
"If God were to take the people to task for their evildoing, He would not leave on it any living creature. But He is sparing them until an appointed time. When their time comes, they will not delay (it) by an hour, nor will they advance (it by an hour)."
16.61 – If God were to take the people to task for their evildoing, He would not leave on it any living creature
This verse seems to indicate a view of the seriousness of human sin ( ẓulm ) and the judgment it deserves from the divine perspective. There are not many verses in the Quran that express this view, though this particular wording also appears at 35.45. See the discussion of the Quran’s view of human nature at 79.40.
