Surah 16

Surah 16:61

"If God were to take the people to task for their evildoing, He would not leave on it any living creature. But He is sparing them until an appointed time. When their time comes, they will not delay (it) by an hour, nor will they advance (it by an hour)."
Universal Obedience

Supporting Verses

Surah 35:45 → "If God were to take the people to task for what they have earned, He would not leave on it any living creature. But He is sparing them until an appointed time. When their time comes – surely God sees His servants."

Opposing Verses

Surah 16:49 → "Whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth prostrates itself before God – every living creature and the angels (too) – and they are not arrogant."
Surah 30:26 → "To Him (belongs) whoever is in the heavens and the earth: all are obedient before Him."
Does the Quran state that all creatures are obedient to God? Some verses state that all living creatures in the heavens and the earth prostrate and are obedient, while others state that people are evildoers who earn punishment.
