17.88 – If indeed humankind and the jinn joined together to produce something like this Qur’ān
Amid passages that show the audience resisting the recitations of the messenger, the Quran declares that no one could produce anything like the recitations. Similar claims appear at 2.23; 10.38; 11.13; 28.49; and 52.34. In Muslim tradition these verses became known as the taḥaddī (“challenge”) verses.
