19.96 – Surely those who believe and do righteous deeds – to them the Merciful will show this love
In this verse the Merciful will appoint affection or “love” ( wudd ) for those who believe and do good works. Coming directly after verses 88–95, this “belief” cannot be just any kind of “religious faith.” Rather, it is specific to claims for the Quran’s Allah, his messenger, and the recitations “sent down” to him.
The noun wudd only appears here in the Quran.
