Surah 2:105
"Those who disbelieve among the People of the Book, and the idolaters, do not like (it) that anything good should be sent down on you from your Lord. But God chooses whomever He pleases for His mercy, and God is full of great favor."
2.105 – Those who disbelieve among the People of the Book
The expression “People of the Book” appears here for the first time in the Quran’s canonical progression. “People of the Book” are usually considered to include Jews and Christians, though the context of 2.105 seems mainly to have Jews in mind. This verse describes the People of the Book as begrudging that “anything good should be sent down” on the “believers.” See a discussion of the Quran’s approach to the People of the Book at 98.1.
