2.153 – You who believe!

After a long passage that began in verse 40 discussing the People of the Book and frequently addressing them directly, the content of the sūra shifts at this point largely to the concerns of “believers.” The second half of the sūra takes up many areas of Muslim practice, such as dietary rules, fasting, pilgrimage, prayer, marriage, and fighting.
