Surah 2:17
"Their parable is like the parable of the one who kindled a fire. When it lit up what was around him, God took away their light, and left them in darkness – they do not see."
2.17 – Their parable is like the parable of the one who kindled a fire
The Quran does not often speak in parables (amthāl), though it claims to do so at a number of points (e.g., 13.17; 24.35; 29.43; 59.21). This verse and the following verses (17–20) describe disbelievers through the pictures of a fire and lightning.
