Surah 2:30
"(Remember) when your Lord said to the angels, ‘Surely I am placing on the earth a ruler.’ They said, ‘Will You place on it someone who will foment corruption on it, and shed blood, while we glorify (You) with Your praise and call You holy?’ He said, ‘Surely I know what you do not know.’"
2.30 – when your Lord said to the angels, “Surely I am placing on the earth a ruler”
Here is the first story of a character familiar from the Bible, Adam (v. 30–38). The story starts with a conversation between the Lord (rabb) and the angels, in which the Lord commands the angels to bow down to Adam (v. 34). In this version of the story, the Lord forbids Adam and his wife (her name is not given in the Quran) to go near to “this tree” (v. 35), but Satan “caused them both to slip from there” (v. 36).
