Surah 2

Surah 2:48

"Guard (yourselves) against a Day when no one will intercede for another at all, and no intercession will be accepted from him, and no compensation taken from him, nor will they be helped."

2.48 – no intercession will be accepted from him

The question of whether intercession (shafā‘a) between humans and Allah is possible finds a range of answers in the Quran, from this categorical prohibition in 2.48 (cf. 2.123, 254) to indications of Allah’s permission for intercession (e.g., 2.255), to acceptance of one particular intercessor (e.g., 21.28). See the comments on intercession at 39.44.
