Surah 21

Surah 21:26

"They say, ‘The Merciful has taken a son.’ Glory to Him! No! (They are) honored servants."

– They say: “The Merciful has taken a son”
Once more the Quran disputes with those who speak about a son of Allah. The expression here is that Allah has taken a son. The Quran argues that any human figure whom people may claim is Allah’s son is rather merely a servant of Allah who acts on Allah’s command (v. 27). Anyone who would say, “I am a god” (ilāh), will be punished in hell (v. 29). See “Son of God in the Quran”.
