Surah 24:35
"God (is the) light of the heavens and the earth. A parable of His light (is) like a niche in which (there is) a lamp, the lamp in a glass, the glass as it were a brilliant star, lit from a blessed tree, an olive (tree) neither (of the) East nor (of the) West, whose oil would almost shine, even if no fire touched it – light upon light – God guides to His light whomever He pleases, and God strikes parables for the people, and God has knowledge of everything –"
24.35 – God (is the) light of the heavens and the earth
The picture of a lamp in a niche is used in this verse to make a remarkable and justly famous statement about Allah. It is one of the most striking theological statements in the Quran and a favorite verse for posting on walls in beautiful Arabic calligraphy.
