Those who resist the preaching of the messenger will face a great punishment when Allah gathers humanity for judgment (vv. 11–21). Verses 17–18 picture a conversation on the “Day” of resurrection. Similar verses in this sūra are verses 22–29 and 69. See “Eschatology in the Quran”.
