Surah 28:16
"He said, ‘My Lord, surely I have done myself evil. Forgive me!’ So God forgave him. Surely He – He is the Forgiving, the Compassionate."
He said, “My Lord, surely I have done myself evil. Forgive me!”
Moses strikes and kills a man (v. 15). He then acknowledges his guilt (ẓalamtu nafsī) and asks his Lord for forgiveness. When Allah forgives him, Moses promises not to support sinners (v. 17). See the analysis of the sin of prophets and messengers at 48.2.
