Set right at the beginning of this sūra is one of the four longest passages about Moses and the Children of Israel (vv. 3–46). This version follows the chronology of the biblical account more closely than any other. Note the new narrative elements: Pharaoh’s wife asks that baby Moses be spared (v. 9), and Pharaoh tells Haman to build a tower (v. 38).
