Opposing Verses
Surah 7:127 → "The assembly of the people of Pharaoh said, ‘Will you leave Moses and his people to foment corruption on the earth and to forsake you and your gods?’ He said, ‘We shall kill their sons and keep their women alive. Surely we shall be supreme over them!’"
Does the Quran portray Pharaoh as claiming to be the sole god, or did he and his people acknowledge other gods? Certain verses depict Pharaoh claiming to be the only god and the Most High Lord, asserting he knows of no other god for his people. In contrast, other verses describe Pharaoh's chiefs and people referring to Pharaoh's own gods, expressing concern that Moses would lead the people to forsake them.
