The Quran pairs Haman with Pharaoh in this sūra at verses 6, 8, and 38 and elsewhere at 29.39; 40.24; and 40.36. In the Bible, Hāmān (with the very same pronunciation) is a character in the story of Esther at a very different period in Israel’s history (e.g., Est. 3:1).
