Surah 29:27
"And We granted him Isaac and Jacob, and We placed among his descendants the prophetic office and the Book. We gave him his reward in this world, and in the Hereafter he will indeed be among the righteous."
29.27 – And We granted him Isaac and Jacob
Not only is Ishmael not mentioned in this sūra, but here the descendants of Isaac and Jacob are associated with “the prophetic office and the Book” (v. 27; cf. 19.49–50). Such verses seem to reflect a more sanguine view of the Children of Israel.
If Allah established “the prophetic office and the Book” among Abraham’s descendants, then the identity of Abraham’s seed can become a point of controversy, as indeed seems to be the case in 2.124–40 and 3.65–68 (cf. Galatians 3:16).
