<p class="footnote" id="pz97-11">After much discussion of the “People of the Book” and many speeches directed toward them (e.g., vv. 98, 99), the sūra shifts its focus to the quranic “believers.” Most of the rest of the sūra concerns that “community” (<em>umma</em>, vv. 104, 110), though the People of the Book are mentioned at a number of points (e.g., vv. 113, 181, 199).</p>
