Surah 3:119

<p class="footnote" id="pz99-7">This verse pictures Muslims loving non-Muslims but non-Muslims not loving back. These non-Muslims are also hateful (v. 118), deceptive, and full of <em>Schadenfreude</em> (v. 120). In this case the Muslims are doing what is right, and the non-Muslims are in the wrong.</p>
<p class="footnote" id="pz99-8">For Christians this is a great failure. Whatever the disagreements may be, whatever the political situation, Jesus commands his followers not only to love their neighbors as themselves (Matthew 19:19) but also to love whoever may consider Christians their enemy (Matthew 5:44). When they hate others, Christians disobey their Lord.</p>
