Surah 32

Surah 32:1

"Alif Lām Mīm."

Questions continue from an audience that does not accept that the words of the messenger are anything but his own. This sūra replies from several familiar angles.
The presence and power of the Creator requires an appropriate response from his creation. A reckoning will come when all of humankind are resurrected and gathered to their Lord. Allah destroyed many generations in the past who resisted the message.
The sūra also includes brief and positive references to the book God gave to Moses and to the leaders of the Children of Israel.

32.1–2 – Alif Lām Mīm. The sending down of the Book – (there is) no doubt about it
On the disconnected Arabic letters that begin this sūra, see the comment at 2.1. The sūra opens with a claim that it is the revelation or “sending down” (tanzīl) of a book that contains no doubt (cf. 2.2).
