37.83 – Surely Abraham was indeed of his party
Abraham challenges his father and his people about their worship of idols, but the people only plot against him.
Stories about Abraham’s opposition to idolatry appear frequently in the Quran, each adding details that are not included in the other versions. A longer narration about the “stars” (v. 88) comes at 6.75–78, about striking the idols (v. 93) at 21.57–63, and about the “blazing” (v. 97) at 21.68–71.
