Surah 39

Surah 39:4

"If God wanted to take a son, He would indeed have chosen whatever He pleased from what He created. Glory to Him! He is God, the One, the Supreme."

– If God wanted to take a son, He would indeed have chosen whatever He pleased

This sūra gives no indications that the audience includes Christians. In any case, the conditional “if” (law) comes as a surprise given the many quranic statements against the son of Allah. The verse seems to be a response to the statement of those who say, “We only serve them so that they may bring us near to God in intimacy” (v. 3).
