Surah 4:13
4.13 â Those are the limits (set by) God. Whoever obeys Allah and His messenger
The Quran describes the commandments in this extended passage as the statutes, boundaries, or âlimitsâ (ḥudÅ«d, also v. 14) of Allah. The expression âlimits of Allahâ appears twelve times in the Quran and always relates to legislation about marital and family relations.
In this sūra, the messenger is more than a preacher or warner. He is associated with Allah as deserving of obedience (also vv. 59, 69, 80); disobedience to the messenger receives the same punishments as disobedience to Allah (v. 14; cf. 42). Together with Allah, the messenger will be the arbiter of any disagreements (vv. 59, 65; cf. 58), the destination of migration (v. 100), and the object of faith (v. 136).
