A unique feature of this story of Moses (vv. 23–54) is the unexpected involvement of a “believer” from Pharaoh’s family. The unnamed character steps forward to defend Moses and to speak God’s message to his own people (vv. 28–45).
This version also repeats Pharaoh’s command to Haman to build a tower (vv. 37–38; also 28.38) and once more places Korah (Qārūn) at Pharaoh’s court. On the dislocation of these biblical characters, see the comments at 28.6 and 29.39.
