Surah 42

Surah 42:13

"He has instituted for you from the religion what He charged Noah with, and that which We have inspired you (with), and what We charged Abraham, and Moses, and Jesus with: ‘Observe the religion, and do not become divided in it.’ What you call them to is hard on the idolaters. God chooses for Himself whomever He pleases, and He guides to Himself whoever turns (to Him in repentance)."

42.13 – He has instituted for you from the religion what He charged Noah with
The tone and content of this verse seem to represent a peaceful and conciliatory approach toward other religious communities. Here there is only one religion (dīn). At the same time, the reader may enquire whether the claim is true. Is the religion of the Quran the same as that of Noah, Abraham, Moses, and Jesus?
On the theme of division over the “knowledge” (v. 14), see the comments at 98.4.
