Surah 42

Surah 42:36

"Whatever things you have been given are (only) the enjoyment of this present life, but what is with God is better and more lasting for those who believe and put their trust in their Lord"

42.36 – Whatever things you have been given are (only) the enjoyment of this present life
This verse and the following passage (vv. 36–43) make up an interesting expression of what Allah wants from people. Beyond trusting Allah, avoiding sins, and observing ritual prayer, the passage recommends forgiving those who do evil (vv. 40, 43).
