Surah 42

Surah 42:51

"It is not (fitting) for any human being that God should speak to him, except (by) inspiration, or from behind a veil, or (that) He should send a messenger and he inspire by His permission whatever He pleases. Surely He is most high, wise."

42.51 – It is not (fitting) for any human being that God should speak to him
This interesting statement tells how Allah speaks to humans through inspiration (waḥy), from behind a veil (ḥijāb), or by sending a messenger. See a discussion of the Quran’s “doctrine of scripture” at 85.21–22.
