Surah 54:9
"The people of Noah called (it) a lie before them, and they called Our servant a liar, and said, ‘A man possessed!’ He was deterred"
This short version of the Noah story first highlights the resistance of the people of Noah to Noah’s preaching. Noah calls on the Lord for help (v. 10). Here the Quran presents the flood as the Lord’s response to Noah’s prayer (vv. 11–12). Noah survived because the Lord “carried him on a vessel of planks and nails” (v. 13).
