The distinguishing feature of Sūra 55 is a repeating refrain that questions those who deny the Lord’s power and justice. The sūra first recites the wonders of creation and then describes the horrors of hell and (mostly) the delights of paradise.

This sūra does not mention the name Allah but uses “Lord” (rabb) and “the Merciful” (Raḥman; v. 1), after whom the sūra is named.
