Surah 57:1
The central part of Sūra 57 is an appeal to the listener or reader to contribute or “spend” in the way of Allah as well as a promise of rewards for those who believe in Allah and his messengers. Rewards and punishments on the Day of Resurrection are further envisioned in a substantial judgment scene.
Near the end of the sūra, mention of ‘Īsā and his followers introduces some interesting expressions and provides an opportunity to consider the identity of ‘Īsā in the Quran.
