Surah 6

Surah 6:114

"Shall I seek (anyone) other than God as a judge? He (it is) who has sent down to you the Book, set forth distinctly. Those to whom We have (already) given the Book know that it is sent down from your Lord with the truth. Do not be one of the doubters."
Clarity of the Quran

Supporting Verses

Surah 11:1 → "Alif Lām Rā’. A Book – its verses have been clearly composed (and) then made distinct – (sent down) from One (who is) wise, aware."
Surah 16:89 → "On the Day when We raise up in every community a witness against them from among them, and bring you as a witness against these (people) [. . .]. We have sent down on you the Book as an explanation for everything, and as a guidance and mercy, and as good news for those who submit."
Surah 41:3 → "A Book – its verses made distinct – an Arabic Qur’ān for a people who know."

Opposing Verses

Surah 2:1 → "Alif Lām Mīm."
Surah 3:7 → "He (it is) who has sent down on you the Book, of which some verses are clearly composed – they are the mother of the Book – but others are ambiguous. As for those in whose hearts (there is) a turning aside, they follow the ambiguous part of it, seeking (to cause) trouble and seeking its interpretation. No one knows its interpretation except God. And (as for) the ones firmly grounded in knowledge, they say, ‘We believe in it. All (of it) is from our Lord.’ Yet no one takes heed except those with understanding."
Does the Quran state that its verses are completely clear and distinct? Some verses state that the Book is explained in detail and clearly composed, while another verse states that some verses are ambiguous and not entirely clear, with their interpretation and hidden meanings known only to God.
Is Allah the sole judge and commander?

Supporting Verses

Surah 17:111 → "Say: ‘Praise (be) to God, who has not taken a son, nor has He any associate in the kingdom, nor has He any (need of) an ally (to protect Him) from disgrace.’ Magnify Him (with all) magnificence."
Surah 18:26 → "Say: ‘God knows about how long they remained (there). To Him (belongs) the unseen of the heavens and the earth. How well He sees and hears! They have no ally other than Him, and He does not associate anyone in His judgment.’"

Opposing Verses

Surah 24:56 → "Observe the prayer and give the alms, and obey the messenger, so that you may receive compassion."
Surah 33:36 → "It is not for a believing man or a believing woman, when God and His messenger have decided a matter, to have the choice in their matter. Whoever disobeys God and His messenger has very clearly gone astray."
Surah 4:59 → "You who believe! Obey God, and obey the messenger and those (who have) the command among you. If you argue about anything, refer it to God and the messenger, if you believe in God and the Last Day. That is better and fairer in interpretation."
Surah 4:65 → "But no! By your Lord! They will not believe until they make you judge concerning their disputes. Then they would have no difficulty with what you decided, and would submit (in full) submission."
Surah 4:80 → "Whoever obeys the messenger has obeyed God, but whoever turns away – We have not sent you as a watcher over them."
Does the Quran state that Allah is the exclusive judge and commander, or do others share in His authority? Some verses assert that Allah has no associate in His judgment or kingdom, acting as the sole judge. Conversely, other verses indicate that the messenger makes binding decisions and command obedience to him alongside Allah.
