Surah 6:154
"Then We gave Moses the Book, complete for the one who does good, and a distinct setting forth of everything, and a guidance and mercy, so that they might believe in the meeting with their Lord."
6.154 – Then We gave Moses the Book, complete for the one who does good, and a distinct setting forth of everything, and a guidance and a mercy
The sūra once more describes the Torah in the most positive and respectful way (also v. 91). Also once more, the sūra seems to launch its claims for a new book (vv. 155, 157) from an affirmation of revelation to “two contingents” of people in the past (v. 156). There is no sense here, as one felt in Sūra 5, that the new recitations serve as judge over the pre-Islamic scriptures. Nevertheless, the sūra insists that the recitations be accepted as “a clear sign (bayyina)... from your Lord” (v. 157).
