Surah 6:91
"They have not measured God (with) due measure, when they said, ‘God has not sent down anything on a human being.’ Say: ‘Who sent down the Book which Moses brought as a light and a guidance for the people? You make it (into) sheets of papyrus – you reveal (some of) it, but you hide much (of it). And you were taught what you did not know – neither you nor your fathers.’ Say: ‘God,’ and leave them in their banter (while) they jest."
6.91 – Who sent down the Book which Moses brought as a light and a guidance for the people?
The sending down of a book to Moses is used here as a proof that Allah reveals to humankind. As is the rule whenever a pre-Islamic scripture is actually named (or here in other words), the Quran speaks only in the most positive and respectful ways. Interestingly, the messenger seems to say that he has seen the “sheets of papyrus” (qarāṭīs). The messenger also accuses his listeners of hiding much of the Torah, without giving an indication of what they have hidden. This accusation of concealment appears relatively frequently in the Quran.
