Surah 63

Surah 63:6

"(It is) the same for to them whether you ask forgiveness for them or you do not ask forgiveness for them: God will not forgive them. Surely God does not guide the people who are wicked."

Here the messenger seems to have the role of intercessor or mediator. There is no point in asking forgiveness for the hypocrites, however, because Allah will not forgive them.
