Surah 63:8
"They say, ‘If indeed we return to the city, the mightier in it will indeed expel the lowlier,’ when all honor (belongs) to God, and to His messenger, and to the believers. But the hypocrites do not know (this)."
– all honor (belongs) to God, and to His messenger, and to the believers
Here the Quran associates not only the messenger but also the “believers” with Allah for power or “honor” (‘izza). The Arabic word for “city” in this verse is madīna. In time, Medina came to mean “city of the prophet.”
