64.8 – So believe in God and His messenger, and the light which We have sent down
This verse makes explicit what often seems implicit in verses about “believing” in the Quran: this is not some kind of generic “religious faith” about a higher power of some kind. Rather, the requirement is belief in Allah as the Quran portrays him, in a particular messenger, and in the recitations of that messenger.
