Surah 66:3
66.3 – When the prophet confided a (certain) story to one of his wives
Like the vocative “Prophet!” (vv. 1, 9), the expression “the prophet” appears in this sūra for the last time (also v. 8). Here the context is the situation with his wives, and in verse 8 Allah will not dishonor the prophet on the Day of Resurrection.
Of its twenty occurrences in the Quran, “the prophet” appears ten times in Sūra 33 and ten times elsewhere. Several occurrences relate to battle (9.61, 113, 117; 33.13), some relate to wives (33.30, 32, 50; 66.3), a few dictate behavior in the prophet’s presence (33.53; 49.2; cf. 9.61), and many accompany special claims for the messenger, such as permission to marry the former wife of Zayd (33.38; also 3.38; 7.157–58; 33.6, 56; 66.8).
