Surah 7:188
"Say: ‘I have no power to (cause) myself benefit or harm, except for whatever God pleases. If I had knowledge of the unseen, I would indeed have acquired much good, and evil would not have touched me. I am only a warner and bringer of good news to a people who believe.’"
Here the messenger says, “I am only a warner.” In many sūras of the Quran, the messenger is a preacher, not a ruler, lawgiver, or warrior. Notice how the identity of the messenger changes in the next two sūras – Sūras 8 and 9.
