Surah 7

Surah 7:38

"He will say, ‘Enter into the Fire, among the communities of jinn and humans who have passed away before you.’ Whenever a (new) community enters, it curses its sister (community), until, when they have all followed each other into it, the last of them will say to the first of them, ‘Our Lord, these led us astray, so give them a double punishment of the Fire.’ He will say, ‘To each a double, but you do not know.’"

The Quran pictures a judgment scene on the Day of Resurrection in which Allah speaks to the condemned and the condemned speak to one another (vv. 37–39). Those who enter the “Garden” praise Allah and thank the messengers who brought them the truth (v. 43). Then the “companions of the Garden” and the “companions of the Fire,” separated by a veil, carry on a longer conversation (vv. 44–51).

Verse 38 calls the jinn a “community.” See the discussion of jinn at 72.1.
